Mshkiki Community Clinic is a owned and operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi.  Pokagon Health Services has been serving indigenous peoples in Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana since 1996 and its main Accredited Healthcare Facility in Dowagiac Michigan serves over 2500 patients, offering an integrative care approach that includes Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, and Behavioral Health services. Pokagon Health Services strives to address the health care disparities in Native and other communities by offering skilled services from highly trained and experienced staff in a state-of-the-art facility, while practicing empathy, respect and cultural sensitivity.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March of 2020, it brought more attention to the health disparities in not only the Native American population but also in other minority groups as compared to the general population. Now more than ever, our communities need to have a choice of where they can have access to the best and most effective healthcare for them, and Pokagon Health Services would like to provide that choice to the residents of Benton Township, Benton Harbor and surrounding communities through Mshkiki Community Clinic.

The Pokagon Band Tribal Council chose Mshkiki to represent this new community clinic as it is the Potawatomi word that means medicine. As the tribe seeks to offer its healthcare services to the residents of Benton Township, Benton Harbor and surrounding communities, we would also like to share a part of Pokagon Band culture through our branding and our logo which incorporates the usage of one of our Potawatomi flowers. The Pokagon people have endured because of their values of Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Bravery, and have adapted these deeply rooted ideals to current programs, including the provision of healthcare services.
